2019 OK Centennial Commission Teacher Institute on the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre
From July 15-19, Tamara Lebak and Dr. Karlos HIll facilitated a 4 Day Institute for Tulsa Public School Teachers K-12. The trainings engaged attendees on the History of the Tulsa Race Massacre including resources and primary sources, experiencing Greenwood today and how the community tells the story, the impact of the massacre on Tulsa today, and a developmental model and differentiated approach to cultural competence. Participants learned of the importance of creating a culturally responsive classroom in discussing the massacre.
